Having a yellow spot on eye is unattractive, but Dr. Paul Super at Eyesite Optometric Group can help to address your problem now. Give him a call at(310) 820-2020 and he will look at your yellow spot on eye and advise what to do about it.

What Causes Yellow Spot on Eye?

Many people look in the mirror every day and see a yellow spot on eye. You may be worried about that spot and wonder if it is harmful. Could it turn into something dangerous? Relax. For most people, a spot on the eye is simply an ‘eye freckle’ and is usually harmless.

There are two sorts of eye freckles. The first is a nevus, which is like a mole on the skin. Some nevi can be clearly seen on the eye. But others are in the rear of the eye. No one will ever see this nevus except your optometrist. Nevi have various names depending on where they are:

· Conjunctival nevus: On the eye surface

· Iris nevus: In the colored part of the eye

Choroidal nevus: Under the retina in the back of the eye

DO YOU A BROWN SPOT ON EYEBALL?

A nevus or eye freckle can have other colors. Some people have a brown spot on eyeball. Nevi can be brown, gray, yellow or even other colors. They are comprised of special cells that give your skin and eyes their color. In most cases, these cells are spread out uniformly. But if enough exist in one place, a nevus may appear.

WHAT CAUSES EYE FRECKLES?

Physicians and scientists are undecided why nevi form. They also do not know why some people get nevi and some do not. But we do know there are two things that can increase your chances of getting eye freckles. · Race: Choroidal nevi at the rear of the eye are seen more in white people and those who have fair skin. · Sun exposure: Some experts believe sun damage can increase the chances of getting nevi. Evidence exists that iris freckles are caused by excessive sun exposureIf you want to have a brown or yellow spot removed from your eye, Dr. Paul Super can go over these options during your visit:· Medicated drops: Some special eye drops can make eye freckles lighter. · Laser therapy: A trabeculoplasty or laser iridotomy can make the eye freckle disappear. Other surgeries: An ophthalmologist can perform a conjuntivectomy that will remove conjunctival layer, but it can regrow. When it does, there will be no eye freckle.
